In Memoriam..
Estonian Champion

"Kamir"
Date Of Birth: 27. June 2000
Date Of Death: 25 July 2009
Breeder: J. Frank Baylis & El Groves, USA
Owner: Essi Suominen, kennel Stormblåstens & Piia Korhonen, kennel
Windy Evening
Height: 36,5 cm (unofficial)
Weight: 8,5 kg
I have admired Kojak dogs since I first saw the
book "The Complete Chinese Crested" by Brenda Jones. Though I never
expected to have dog with a such fabulous pedigree, because at the time
I got into breed, the Kojak lines were extremely rare.. But
then I was able to get this gem! Kamir is my dream come
true.
Kamir arrived from USA to
Finland with me at the very end of year 2004. And I can not find words to
thank Frank enough that I could have him. I had been in touch
with Frank some years earlier about son of Kojak Kolorado Kid, but there
really wasn't that many puppies sired by Kid. While I was visiting
Frank, I saw Kid, he was very old but sweet boy and now when I look
Kamir's son Stormblåstens Lake Of
Fire, I get a strong feeling he is copy of his grandsire.
Kamir was shown in USA for
several times, gaining 3 point major win, but his co-owner decided to retire him for
the rings.. After his arrival to Finland, he has gained Estonian
Championship status with ease, he visited only 4 shows; 3 times he got CC
and once he was 2nd in his class. In Finland results have been mostly
class wins or best male placements, usually with rating "excellent".
Kamir never liked the
showrings though, so if you have only seen this boy at shows, you
unfortunately have no idea about how he was in real: he loved every
people he ever meet and was really happy, easygoing boy.
Kamir sired unfortunately
only 4 litters here at Stormblåstens, before his untimely death: Stormblåstens S,
Stormblåstens R, Stormblåstens M
and Stormblåstens L but
luckily I am able to continue his bloodline with few puppies.
